Raising Hydration IQ

Improve your hydration equation with these facts about hydration!

A survey of 3,003 Americans, conducted by Yankelovich Partners for the Nutrition Information Center at The New York Hospital (Cornell Medical Center) concluded that about 75% of all Americans may be dehydrated.

"The net result is that most Americans are probably only getting about a third of the valuable hydration benefits they need," says Barbara Levine, R.D.,Ph.D., Director of the Cornell Nutrition Information Center. "The vast majority are not drinking enough water to begin with, and, to make matters worse, many do not realize that beverages containing alcohol an caffeine actually rob the body of water."

Benefits of Proper Hydration

Drink Yummy

Water that tastes good is easier to consume. Try great-tasting UltraWater alkalized water that’s also beneficial to your health!

Drink Early

When you get up in the morning you are dehydrated. Drink plenty of alkalized water before your coffee!

Drink Late

Your body loses water while you sleep so enjoy a glass of water just before you go to sleep.

Don't Wait

By the time you feel thirsty, you probably have already lost two or more cups of your total body water.

Drink Water not Sugar

Instead of sweet, calorie-dense beverages, drink alkalized water during mealtime.

Drink Water not Caffeine

Avoid caffeinated drinks as they are diuretic and don't help your hydration!

Be Prepared

If finding time to drink water is a problem, keep a bottle of water on your desk. Or take water break rather than a coffee break.

Drink and Sweat

Drink plenty of water before, during and after workouts - one liter per hour. Drink more if it’s hot or if you have a strenuous workout.

Drink Variety

Add slices of lemon, lime, cucumber, melon etc.

Drink while "Sleeping"

When you get up to urinate, you guessed it, drink another glass of water!
